CARDIOLOGY

Appointments

Call us Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. to make an appointment. New patients are generally scheduled between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The initial visit and work up will take 2 to 3 hours. Your veterinarian may make your first appointment for you if you wish. You may download a copy of the PDF or RTF file of the initial visit client questionnaire that will need to be completed upon your arrival. You may download this file at the bottom of this screen, print the file and have it completed prior to your first appointment in order to save time.

Appointments with the Internal Medicine Service are by referral only and all patients will return to their regular veterinarians when their treatment is complete. If you must cancel, please call at least 24 hours before your scheduled visit.

Before You Come

The Internal Medicine Service may need certain medical records or radiographs from your veterinarian. Your veterinarian may send them to us, or you may be asked to bring them with you on your first visit.

Fees

Before we schedule significant procedures, a written estimate of the anticipated costs will be given to you. We will require a deposit of 75% of the written estimate before the procedure or surgery is performed. The balance will be due when you pick up your pet. We accept the following forms of payment: cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Care Credit and checks (approved through Telechek®).

Special Instructions

The Cardiology Service at the Veterinary Specialists Center can evaluate all possible problems related to the heart from congenital (birth) abnormalities through age-related degenerative changes.
A cardiac evaluation involves a complete physical examination and auscultation, thoracic radiographs (either review of your veterinarian's radiographs or those obtained during your visit to the Veterinary Specialists Center) and, in the majority of cases, a cardiac ultrasound, electrocardiogram and indirect blood pressure. Routine bloodwork may be necessary depending on the problem and its severity.
If your regular veterinarian has done any of these tests, we recommend that you bring copies to your pet's initial consultation. This includes the thoracic radiographs. This will save you time and money.
Please bring with you a written history describing the reason that we are seeing your pet along with any recent bloodwork or radiographs.
If you cannot get to your regular veterinarian before your appointment, please have them FAX to our office any pertinent information.
